Citizen Engagement and Needs Research Assistant (GIS Position)

Citizen Engagement and Needs Research (GIS Positions) – Racine and Kenosha

The College of Social Sciences and Professional Studies at the University of Wisconsin – Parkside is seeking student research assistants. This position has a specific GIS component
 
Responsibilities:
 
·        Organize and integrate survey data into Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software
·        Identify and integrate relevant pre-existing GIS datasets
·        Create both static and interactive cartographic visualization products
·        Effectively explain and demonstrate cartographic products to other team members
·        Assist with creation of digital data collection forms and/or apps
·        Consult with survey data collection team about data collection issues
·        Graduate students may be assigned supervisory functions related to undergraduate students.
 
Minimum Qualifications: Presently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at UW-Parkside, experience using GIS software (ESRI’s ArcPro, ArcGIS Online, etc.).  
 
Additional Qualifications:
·        Strong communication skills
·        Excellent verbal, written, computer, and organizational skills
·        Attention to detail
·        Interest in research design and subject matter
·        Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
·        Ability to take initiative and responsibility
·        MS Office proficiency
·        Own transportation as travel may be required within the Racine and Kenosha counties
 
Preferred Qualifications:
·        Relevant work or course experience
·        Bilingual appreciated but not required
 
Duration – November 2022 through Spring 2023 
Pay –Undergraduate Students @ 15.00/hr.
