Information Technology Specialist

Summary
This position is located in the Food and Drug Administration (FDA),Office of Regulatory Affairs (ORA), Office of Criminal Investigations (OCI). As the FDA's criminal law enforcement and intelligence arm,OCI protects the American public by conducting criminal investigations of illegal activities involving FDA-regulated products, arresting those responsible, and bringing them before the Department of Justice for prosecution.

Duties
  • Responsible for managing and supporting information systems and servers in a data center, including installation, setup, and configuration.
  • Serves as a technical specialist and advisor to specialists and managers in evaluating, planning, developing, implementing, and supporting hosting infrastructure technologies.
  • Troubleshoots the most complex applications hosting services problems referred by help desk staff.
  • Leads efforts to diagnose significant software faults and troubleshoots problems involving complex technical issues related to the design, development, and administration of critical applications.
  • Works in conjunction with other specialists to ensure that customers are provided with a well-managed, high performing hosting environment that is tailored to customer needs.
  • Writes and updates user documentation and provides information on new services.

Qualifications
The position of Information Technology Specialist falls under the 2210 occupational series. To qualify for this position at grade GS-13, you must meet all requirements by 11:59 pm EST on 10/03/2022.

Basic Requirements: Have Information Technology related experience, demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience obtained in either the private or public sector, and/or completion of specific, intensive training that demonstrates that they possess each of the following four competencies:
  1. Attention to Detail - is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail;

Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services;
  3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately; and
  4. Problem Solving - identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
In addition to the above Basic Requirements, applicants must also meet the below Minimum Qualifications requirement to qualify at the GS-13 grade level.
