Economic Benefits Technician

Make an impact in your community today! The Economic Social Services (ESS) team serves the public by helping our community receive what they need to live happy and healthy lives. ESS aids individuals and families in need by providing evaluation for Food and Nutrition Services.

Currently, we are seeking twelve (12) dynamic and passionate Economic Benefits Technicians (time-limited) to join this hard working team and assist in making a difference!

These positions are full-time, benefits-eligible, and currently funded for one (1) year. Yes, this means you get the 5% towards your 401K too! Wake County will reassess and extend these positions based upon availability of funding and business need. 

Positions are located at the Swinburne and Somerset Buildings in Raleigh.

Primary job duties include:
  •  Submitting recertifications into NC FAST
  •  Assisting with interviewing clients
  • Researching cases in NC FAST and On Base and referring client to the Eligibility Caseworker on duty for the Family & Children Medicaid or Food & Nutrition Services Programs
  • Answering general questions via phone, email, or in person
  •  Scanning documents into On Base
  •  Helping clients complete application, if needed
  •  Troubleshooting problem areas for clients
  •  Making referrals to appropriate resources

The Basics (Required Education and Experience)

  • High school diploma or GED
  • One year of experience in human services
  • Equivalent education and experience are accepted

Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience)

  • One (1) year of experience in health and human services programs
  • NCFAST and OnBase experience
  • Excellent customer service skills

How Will We Know You're 'The One'?

  • Knowledge of and/or ability to learn Economic Benefit Programs policy
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including Word and Excel
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • The ability to listen, react and respond appropriately to others, and professionally assist emotional clientele

About This Position

  • Location: Positions available at multiple locations 
  • Employment Type: Regular
  • Work Schedule: Mon - Fri 8:00 am - 5:15 pm
  • Hiring Range: $17.17 - $23.17 commensurate with experience
