Blaine County’s Sustainability & Climate Program goals are to reduce the community’s contribution to climate pollution, strengthen resilience against climate-related hazards, transition to clean energy, and enhance livability and quality of life for all residents.
The Sustainability & Climate Program offers a unique opportunity to gain real world experience and practical skills in a specific discipline. The Climate Action Communications Intern will report directly to the Sustainability Program Manager and collaborate with members of the communications team. Ideal candidates will be self-motivated, hard-working and creative. They will work well with others and have strong written and verbal communications skills.
This position will be virtual or in-person depending upon the location of the selected applicant. We encourage students from a broad spectrum of backgrounds who reflect the diversity of the communities we serve.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with development of creative concepts and marketing strategies for promoting the work of the Sustainability Program.
- Research stakeholder and community engagement processes, technologies, and resources.
- Assist with engaging stakeholders, residents and businesses to education, inform, and inspire, and promote community sustainability initiatives.
- Help to create and maintain quarterly communications calendar.
- Generate content for press releases, newspaper articles, newsletter items, blogs, and social media posts.
- Update and maintain Sustainability Program website
- Research and recommend communications performance metrics, gather data, and analyze effectiveness of communication tactics.
