POSITION:   Elementary Principal, Madroña Elementary School 
 
REPORTS TO:  Director of Elementary Education   

BASIC FUNCTIONS: 
The elementary site principal is responsible for all aspects of the management and operation of an elementary school. It is the responsibility of the site principal to assume the instructional leadership of the school staff and to promote the cooperative development of a school program which will best meet the educational objectives of the school district for all learners. Integral to that work, the elementary principal is also responsible for promoting the district’s commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). Madrona Elementary School serves a diverse population of students including unduplicated pupils, students with disabilities, and neighborhood students.  
 
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 
  • Develop methods for ongoing communication with staff, parents, and community members. 
  • Create a positive culture and climate among staff, students, and families. 
  • Provide leadership and participate in programs and activities that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion. 
  • Oversee the development and implementation of high quality local assessments to meet state requirements and track student progress on state standards. 
  • Assist staff in interpreting assessment and evaluation information in making programmatic and instructional decisions. 
  • Develop professional learning communities with staff, focused on analyzing student performance data and providing instructional support to students. 
  • Collaborate with other district personnel in developing and implementing quality educational programs and evaluations, including Expanded Learning. 
  • Oversee the operations, staffing, curriculum, and instruction of specialized programs for students with disabilities. 
  • Supervise and evaluate assigned certificated and classified staff. 
  • Manage and support technology-based instruction and assessment systems. 
   
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:  
  • Communicate with Superintendent, district level personnel and staff regarding relevant matters in a timely manner. 
  • Support and participate in family/community activities. 
  • Provide an orientation program for new staff members. 
  • Participate in developing goals according to the educational goals of the district and state. 
  • Other duties as assigned by the superintendent or designee. 

QUALIFICATIONS:                 
  • Five years of classroom teaching experience.  
  • Possession of a valid Administrative Services Credential. 
  • Effective leadership skills and experiences. 
  • Experience in administrative capacity preferred. 
  • Proven background in instruction, assessment, and professional development.
