Kryzsko Commons Student Union - Building Manager

Supervisor:         Director – Student Union & Activities

Pay Rate:              $12.00 per hour first year
Raises given with sufficient skill proficiency and time served.

Hours:                   10-30 per week

Position Summary: The building manager provides leadership through the supervision of evening and weekend operations of Kryzsko Commons Student Union. They will also provide coverage to the Student Union Resource Center desk during business hours during the week. The position requires complete knowledge of building services, including the Student Union Resource Center, facility operations, building technology and the policies of Kryzsko Commons Student Union. This position handles recreation equipment and bike program check-outs. The building manager communicates issues to staff, manages emergency situations, and represents Kryzsko Commons Student Union and Winona State University in a leadership position by providing high quality customer service.

Position responsibilities include:
  • Knowledge of all services (Student Union Resource Desk, bike rental, Warrior Esports Lounge, recreation equipment, meeting spaces, technology).
  • Answer Kryzsko Commons Student Union main phone line.
  • Coordination of scheduled programs with the Student Union & Activities staff, program personnel, general maintenance workers, and other full-time staff.
  • Supervision of evening and weekend programs (lectures, banquets, conferences, cultural dinners, etc.).
  • Open and close on weekends and secure the facility on weeknights.
  • Represent Kryzsko Commons Student Union and Winona State University in a leadership role by providing quality customer service as well as being a resource for customers.
  • Handle all emergency situations (medical, fire, etc.) within established procedures.
  • Participate in weekly building manager staff meetings.
  • Work with full-time general maintenance staff in supporting Kryzsko Commons Student Union operations including room set ups and occasional cleaning.
  • Responsible for communication in the building manager report documenting activities and problems.
  • Circulate through the building once per hour to ensure safety and security of the building.
  • Work with Security, Facilities and other University departments during the evening and weekend hours.
  • Communicate customer needs with food service managers and student managers as relevant.
  • Manage marketing distribution and posting boards in Kryzsko Commons Student Union.
  • Manage bike rental program and recreation equipment check out.
  • Create accounts and allocate resources in the Warrior Esports Lounge.
  • Assist Student Union & Activities staff with events and projects as necessary.

Required Qualifications:
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 2.5
  • Must be able to work through Fall 2023
  • Demonstrated leadership ability to work with and guide others
  • Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of Winona State, its programs, and its services
  • Emergency management experience
  • Ability to work with minimal direct supervision
  • Knowledgeable of Audio/Visual technology that is used in Kryzsko Commons Student Union
  • Knowledge of Kryzsko Commons Student Union: its purpose, its services, and how students use the building
