The Minnesota Alliance for Volunteer Advancement (MAVA) VISTA program develops, expands, or improves volunteer programming that connects Minnesotans to the resources they need to move out of poverty. MAVA has 16 host sites across the state including: Lake Agassiz Habitat for Humanity, Rainbow Health, Planned Parenthood of North Central States, MN Tool Library, YWCA Minneapolis, CAPI USA, Second Harvest Heartland, Hennepin Healthcare, and Great River Children's Museum. MAVA is a nonprofit association for people who lead volunteers in Minnesota. We connect, educate, strengthen and advocate for volunteer engagement leaders and their organizations to positively impact communities. As the VISTA Leader you will receive your certification in volunteer leadership, learn about the evolving field of volunteer engagement, network with local and national leaders in the field, and contribute your creativity to a small, fun nonprofit. You will mentor 9-15 VISTA Members, provide training opportunities for them, do data analysis, report writing, curriculum development and conduct program management activities. You will be a vital team member in our small non-profit team and will help us expand volunteer engagement while working to eliminate poverty. You will need to have completed one year as an AmeriCorps VISTA or Peace Corps. If you are an evacuated Peace Corps member, you may be able to serve as a VISTA leader with less than one year of service.

As the VISTA Leader, you will champion up to 17 VISTA members as they develop volunteer programming that addresses economic, education, and health inequity in MN. Duties include providing peer coaching and resources to members, leading monthly cohort trainings, conducting VISTA member outreach and recruitment, and evaluating program effectiveness. In exchange for your service you will receive $1,534/mo, choice of a $6,495 education award or $3,000 end of service stipend, a rent and phone stipend, and access to professional development funds.
