Entry-Level Global Purchasing & Supply Chain Rotational Program

Description

As a part of the Global Purchasing & Supply Chain Rotational Program, you will be responsible for the purchase of all or a specific portion of productive and/or non-productive materials, supplies, machinery, tooling and/or services. In addition, you will actively participate in the development of commodity strategy, sourcing/negotiations, global/regional material budget execution, and collaborate with suppliers or internal partners. This work is of a complex nature involving a considerable amount of self-motivation, analytical ability, and independent judgment.
The Global Purchasing & Supply Chain Rotational Program is for recent college graduates who will be changing jobs every six months for the first two years (we do not offer “early graduation” from the program, must complete full 2-year program). Rotational jobs may require the selected candidate to do any of the following:

Additional Description

Qualifications:
  • Pursuing a degree in one of the following : Supply Chain, Purchasing, Procurement/ Acquisitions and Contract Management, Business, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, General Engineering
  • This rotational program begins in the Spring or Summer of 2023
  • Must be graduating with a Bachelor’s or Master's degree between December 2021 and June 2023
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to distill complex subjects to a wider audience
  • Strong organizational skills including the ability to prioritize, balance multiple projects simultaneously, and meet goals
  • Proficient with Microsoft office products - Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with commodities (metals, stampings, castings, plastics, resins, paint, electronics, etc.)
  • Experience managing commercial issues with suppliers and assessing supplier performance
  • Demonstrated skills in complex negotiations
  • Knowledge of procurement software and databases
  • Knowledge of materials management
  • Capable of interpreting market data
  • Able to read blueprints and to understand basic engineering documents
  • Solid knowledge of contract law and its applications regarding purchasing processes
  • Ability to work globally, independently, and self-directed
  • Ability to travel at least 5% of time, including international travel

This role offers the following  Work Appropriately  strategies:
  • Hybrid:  This position does not require an employee to be onsite full-time to perform most effectively. The employee’s role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired.
  • Remote: This position does not require an employee to be onsite/relocate to S.E. MI. The employee’s role enables them to work for GM 100% remotely.
The median annual salary compensation for this role is $80,000.00. Applicable salary ranges may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
