Through work in this position, the student may build skills in the following ways aligned with the IUPUI profiles:

Communicator - Communication is the primary focus of this internship. The student will be asked to effectively communicate their ideas orally and in written and visual form. Not only should ideas be clear to the internal staff, but clients and audiences should also be able to easily understand what is being communicated. Since we will not have face to face opportunities in 2020, we will leverage video conferencing and phone calls as much as possible to build relationships.
Problem Solver – The student will work with all members of the Marketing committee and may have client interactions as well. This position is a mix of independent and group work. You will be expected to take ideas and concepts and create systems for execution, which requires critical analysis and synthesis.
Innovator – We encourage our interns to ask questions and be curious. While we will have existing processes for the student to follow, we welcome new ideas and improvements on how to make our marketing and social media more effective. If the student has graphic design skills, we will also leverage their creativity.
Community Contributor – The student will gain knowledge about other cultures and perspectives through interacting with members of the staff and community. This position will provide students exposure to alternative narratives and ways of being in the world, broadening their awareness of diversity and inclusion and teaching them to respect their culture and that of others. Kheprw Institute The Kheprw Institute is a nonprofit community organization that works to create a more just, equitable, human-centered world by nurturing youth and young adults to be leaders, critical thinkers and doers who see the people in any community as the most valuable assets and are committed to working with disinvested communities to bring about change that leads to empowered self-sustainable communities.
