Director of Production Technology


Job Summary:
The Director of Production Technology (full-time, year-round) is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all aspects of technology within the Production Department including, but not limited to: managing the execution of lighting, audio, and video elements for all events; departmental budgeting; managing contracted labor, and maintaining the lighting, audio, video, and camera inventories and equipment rentals (inbound and outbound). The Director of Production Technology reports directly to the Sr. Director of Production. 

Individual Duties and Responsibilities:
·      Oversee and coordinate all aspects of technology within the production department (Lighting, Audio, Video, and Special Effects).  
·      Act as Head Electrician and Head Audio Engineer for the facility.
·         Lead all necessary lighting, audio, and video contractors and seasonal workers, as well as the full time Production Technology Coordinator.
·      Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair lighting, audio, and video equipment for all three venues onsite.
·      Work with designers to execute their vision within each production’s allowable resources and budget. 
·      Actively manage, collaborate and participate in lighting, audio, and video installations for each production including the setup, prep, and troubleshooting of conventional, moving, DMX lighting fixtures, and atmospheric equipment; prepping gel, templates, lighting positions, and cable; speaker plots and wireless microphones; projectors and video equipment. 
·      Order all materials needed for the Lighting, and Audio, and Video for each production. 
·      Work closely with the Sr. Director of Production to ensure all deadlines are met and accurate budget reporting. 
·      Act as programmer for the lighting board, sound console, and Qlab as needed.
·      Work with the Audio Mix Engineer during tech as needed.
·      Assist in preparation and set up of facility rentals in all spaces.
·      Schedule crews and submit time sheets on a weekly basis. 
·      Work occasional nights and weekends.
·      Carry out any other duties assigned by the Sr. Director of Production.
 
Production Team Duties and Responsibilities:
·         Attend Production Meetings, Designer Runs, Tech Rehearsals, and Dress Rehearsals. 
·         Retain confidentiality on all aspects related to the organization, performers, and staff.
·         Have a strong knowledge of all Orlando REP productions.
·         Maintain a safe, productive, efficient, organized, and clean working environment. 
 
Desired Qualifications:
·      Demonstrated proficiency of ETC EOS/Ion consoles setup and programming, networking (sACN, ETCNet, Pathways, ETC Unison), dimming systems (ETC Sensory, Strand CD80), lighting fixtures (both conventional and automated), DMX and wireless DMX standards, and special effects equipment (foggers, hazers, strobes, LED tape, pixel-mappable products, etc.).
·      Demonstrated proficiency of theatrical audio systems, digital audio consoles such as Yamaha QL5, Yamaha M7CL, passive and active speakers, amplifiers, digital sound processors, wireless microphones, QLab, Telex intercom systems, Dante networks, show control (MSC, MTV, OSC), and live mixing and recording.
·      Knowledgeable of projections, video, and camera systems.
·      Ability to manage system control IT networks and protocols.
·      Knowledgeable in repairing both lighting and sound equipment.
·      Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and follow schedules.
·      Demonstrated ability to read, interpret, and execute theatrical paperwork including light plots and speaker plots.
·      Knowledgeable of Vectorworks and Lightwright.
·      Knowledgeable of technical theater procedures and technologies (fly system, rigging, stage mechanics, power tools).
·      Ability to remain calm and collected under pressure.
·      Demonstrated leadership and management skills.
·      Ability to work independently.
·      Ability to lift 50lbs, comfortable working at heights 20ft+, comfortable with ladders, stairs and personnel lifts.
·      Valid drivers license and comfortable driving a cargo van.
