About This Opportunity
In this role, your time will be spent identifying and evaluating material deterioration and structural deficiencies involving high-rises, historical buildings, parking structures, plazas, building envelopes, water-retention structures, tunnels, and bridges. You will assist with forensic investigation, behavior evaluation, condition appraisal reports, repair design, repair budgeting, repair documents and construction administration.
Qualified candidates will have strong problem-solving skills. The ability to effectively communicate both in writing and verbally, be highly resourceful and self-directed and enjoy working in an environment that offers the freedom and autonomy to develop and implement best practices. Strong time management skills, self-initiation, and reliance are essential skills.
Responsibilities
- Conduct field investigations, collect material samples, and prepare condition appraisal reports
- Prepare repair specifications and drawings.
- Provide engineering support during construction, track construction progress, and verify contractor compliance with plans and specifications.
Qualifications and Competencies
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in structural engineering or similar.
Other Requirements:
- EIT certificate or ability to attain same within 12 months of date of hire.
- 0-3 years of experience preferred
- Willingness to travel to job sites, with occasional travel for conferences.
