Columbia Public Schools is hiring AVID Tutors for our AVID Elective classes. The AVID Elective is a college and career readiness class filled with motivated students who have a goal of attending a 4-year college/university after high school. In CPS, we have AVID Elective classes in grades 7-12. You would be working under the supervision of a CPS AVID Teacher, in small groups of students, using inquiry-based methods. Basic knowledge of 7-12 subjects is necessary. This is not a traditional Tutor position, instead you facilitate a small group where students lead the discussion. This is a part time job, hours are during the school day (anywhere from 7:30am-4:00pm). You can work as little as a 1 hour block to 6 hour blocks in a day. CPS conducts a criminal background check on prospective employees.
