Bicycle Recovery Specialist
The Police Department Bicycle Recovery Specialist (BRS) responds to bicycle related complaints, including retrieving, tagging, storing and inventorying abandoned, illegally parked, or found bicycles. This position will identify stolen bicycles, locate and notify owners and arrange for the return of bicycles, and is also responsible for preparing unclaimed bicycles for online auction and disposing of junk bicycles. The BRS will use police computer and filling systems, organize data, and information as requested. The position assists Property Clerks in researching the disposition of various cases and related property and/or evidence. The BRS will participate in the transportation, disposition, and destruction of property according to established procedures. Work is performed under limited supervision of the Police Property Supervisor. It is the expectation of the Police Department that all employees will embrace and follow the Department's Code of Conduct and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
