Alumni-in-Residence: Sign Up for Office Hours with Antara Ganguli '01, Director of the UN Girls Education Initiative
The Loeb Center's Alumni-in-Residence program is excited to offer 20-minute, 1-on-1, informational office hour appointments with Antara Ganguli '01 .
Antara Ganguli is the Director of UNGEI, the UN Girls Education Initiative. UNGEI is the only multilateral entity dedicated to girls’ education and gender equality in and through education.
Antara has 20 years of experience in international development. She led gender equality for UNICEF India, its largest non-humanitarian office, where she advised and supported 13 field offices on gender-based violence, gender-transformative pedagogy and positive masculinity. Previously she was the Deputy Representative for UN Women in Bangladesh.
Antara started her career as a primary school teacher for children of sex workers. Antara is also a novelist. Her most recent novel, Tanya Tania, a coming-of-age epistolary novel set in Pakistan and India, was published by Bloomsbury in 2016. In addition to her B.A. from Amherst College, she holds a M.A. in International Economics from Johns Hopkins University.
