The mission of the Sitka Fine Arts Camp is to build community in Alaska by providing opportunities in arts, culture and recreation in an inclusive, educational and inspirational environment.
SUMMARY
The Technical Theater Manager manages the technical theater needs of the Sitka Fine Arts Camp (SFAC) which includes managing two theaters: the Sitka Performing Arts Center (PAC) and Odess Theater.
The goal of the Technical Theater Manager is to maintain the PAC and Odess as vibrant performance spaces supporting our programs as well as our school district and community. The Technical Theater Manager must have the skills, experience, drive, and enthusiasm for being part of a team to develop the strongest theater space measured by community involvement, student learning, and number and diversity of audience attending shows.
This Sitka Performing Arts Center (PAC) is a 600 seat, modern state of the art proscenium theater. It is the main stage for our schools and community arts organizations. You can learn more about the space and its technical specifications here.
The Odess Theater is a 300 seat historical theater in the National Register of Historical Landmarks. It is used both as a theater space for SFAC’s after school theater program as well as an event space for community conferences, weddings, parties, etc.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Maintain theaters as safe, clean, welcoming environments
- Manage equipment including inventorying and maintaining assets, troubleshooting equipment problems, and building and updating training manuals
- Run and supervise technical production of shows and events including lighting, sound, video, carpentry, and stage management
- Manage community use including Sitka School District Staff and other arts organizations
- Develop, train, work with, and retain volunteer pool
- Teach technical theater production through our youth programs
- Manage summer technical production staff
- Work a flexible schedule which includes weekends, holidays, long days, and late nights
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Degree or comparable experience in technical theater production
- Skills/experience to run and troubleshoot technology used for facility systems including:
- Audio – Mixing on a digital console - experience on the Allen&Heath SQ-7 and the Behringer x32 is a plus
- Lighting – Patching and programming on an ETC Ion and ETC Element
- Master electrician duties: lighting plots, hanging and focusing lights, and cable management
- Video recording and live streaming using multi-camera mixing and editing on either Final Cut Pro or Davinci Resolve
- Ability to produce large scale shows including musicals requiring large scale set, full orchestra pit, wireless headset microphones, and other technology as needed

This job operates in a professional office environment and in a theater environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and phones. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively. This role must be able to climb ladders, work from heights, and stand for extended periods of time. This role must have visual and auditory acuity to maintain safety standards. This role must be able to safely operate specialized tools and equipment, kneel, crouch, bend at the waist, reach overhead, reach above the shoulders and horizontally and hear and speak sufficiently to exchange information. The employee must be able to lift and/or move items of 50+ pounds.

- Salary commensurate with experience
