Overview
The Alumni and Development Student Assistant will primarily support the team’s prospect development function through alumni and donor biodemographic updates in our donor management system (Blackbaud RE NXT). The student assistant will also be responsible for proactively researching these updates through various online sources. This is a critical position to assist UA with maintaining alumni records and keeping them current and as accurate as possible to improve alumni outreach and engagement. 
 
The student assistant will learn how to responsibly, independently, and proactively conduct prospect research and how that information is collected, maintained and analyzed by a highly successful fundraising team, gaining experience in nonprofit philanthropy at a large, complex institution. This position is for someone considering working in higher education, data analysis, journalism, libraries, nonprofit management, fundraising or who shares a strong interest in the success of UA.
 
Responsibilities and Duties
  • Accurate and timely maintenance of donor database
  • Perform research tasks as assigned or necessary to update alumni and donor records fully
  • Assist prospect development with special projects
  • Other database and research projects as needed
 
Characteristics of Ideal Candidate

·        Naturally curious and enjoy discovery work and research projects
·        Strong analytical skills with accuracy in information gathering and data entry
·        Collaborative, but has the ability to work independently
·        Reliable and self-motivated
·        Comfortable with databases, online research, Microsoft Excel and Word
