Intern: Traditional and/or Artificial Intelligence Computer Vision Algorithms

SRI International’s Center for Vision Technologies offers end-to-end computer vision solutions that translate into real-world applications. Our scientists have pioneered real-time, real-world systems in multimodal (text, audio, and vision) analytics, Machine Learning (ML), stereo processing, object recognition, activity recognition and integrated sensor and processing solutions. We continue today to advance real-time computer vision algorithms directly applicable into real-world applications.

We are looking for a creative and energetic Fall intern with a strong academic and practical background in traditional and/or artificial intelligence computer vision algorithms. A successful candidate needs to demonstrate the ability to assist in developing strong mathematical based algorithms. The right candidate will possess a strong technical background, algorithm modeling/simulation experience and understanding methods for working across different program teams.

Responsibilities will include:
  • Develop algorithms for deep learning, more specifically neuromorphic applications.
  • Support structured algorithm research and development for state-of-the-art edge computing architectures.
  • Work closely with our algorithm teams to develop, simulate and validate machine learning algorithms.
  • Work closely with our hardware engineers to support the algorithms being ported to hardware processor devices. (e.g., GPU, FPGA, Android, Xavier, etc.)
  • Develop algorithm test applications that can run, test and debug on various processor hardware. (e.g., GPU, FPGA, Android, XaVier, etc.)

Qualifications:
  • Working towards a PhD in Computer Science, math, machine learning or related field.
  • Math background in linear algebra, statistical learning, having courses on convex optimization, knowledge in multi-variable differential equations and non-linear equations.
  • Ability to model and simulate algorithms in TensorFlow, PyTorch, Python, C and C++.
  • Have experience with software version tools (e.g., GitLab).

SRI International, an over 75-year strong pioneering research institute, has a rich history supporting government and industry. Our innovations have created new industries, billions of dollars in market value and lasting benefits to society. SRI is organized around broad disciplines and capabilities, with research and development divisions and labs to groups who excel at identifying new opportunities, developing products and creating custom solutions. Our organization is driven by impact - delivering unique solutions for the world's important challenges and transforming ideas into reality for clients and partners.
