Game Design Student Associate (Business Season 2022-2023)

JOB TITLE: Game Design Student Associate – MSG Ventures 
DEPARTMENT: MSG Ventures 
SUPERVISOR: Game Director, Product Development  
 
 
ROLE SUMMARY: 
As Game Design Student Associate, your primary responsibility will be to assist in the research, conception and documentation of game designs for MSG Ventures’ Interactive Concept Group, focusing on the design of large-scale multiplayer games. You will work at the direction of the Game Director to assure that your work maintains continuity with the team’s goals and creative vision. This role is for an enthusiastic and hardworking individual eager to work within an Agile software development framework to assure timely delivery of materials and the prompt implementation of revisions wherever necessary. 
 
 
RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • Participate in ideation and brainstorming sessions to conceive of new game concepts & mechanics 
  • Research and document points of interest of games relevant to project goals 
  • Create game design documentation and other materials necessary for game production 
  • Work with software developers and content creators to create compelling prototypes 
  • Playtest and adjust prototypes within game engine based on feedback from stakeholders 
  • Attend and report in daily scrums and bi-weekly sprint planning sessions, reviews, and retrospectives in accordance with Agile best practices 
 
QUALIFICATIONS: 
Required: 
  • Working knowledge of contemporary 3D game engines including Unreal and Unity 
  • Solid understanding of game design theory and practice  
  • Analytical understanding and appreciation of a wide variety of game genres  
  • Excellent written communication and team relations skills  
  • High level of professionalism  
Preferred
  • Experience with Unity Game Engine  
  • Experience working in an Agile team and/or familiarity with Agile methodology 
  • Interest or secondary skills in another key game development discipline such as Engineering, Art or Audio 
  • Ability to articulate game design concepts and functions through appropriate software for broader team consumption 
  • Examples of finished game projects taken from conception to execution and completion 
 
STUDENT ASSOCIATE REQUIREMENTS: 
  • Undergraduate candidates with a class status of junior or above or graduate candidates 
  • GPA of 3.2 or above 
  • Provide a letter from your school verifying enrollment  
  • Available to work a minimum 21-hour work week and a maximum 35-hour work week
