The Opportunity
NRG is seeking a Design Intern to join us for our 2022 fall internship program. Our internship is an opportunity for students to be provided with a hands-on design and data visualization work experience and to touch projects that shape strategy for the world’s most powerful entertainment brands. They will develop an understanding of how research is conducted, how design functions within a market research environment, and how design can impact our entertainment clients to inform their business strategy.
The Role
- Create and design completely customized presentation templates branded to a product or movie, including elements such as iconography, page layouts, and customized imagery compositions.
- Assist in creating client presentations and visually refine reports for better story-telling.
- Shadow designers working on projects involving illustration, infographics, data visualization, branding, presentation design and motion graphics work.
- Interns will also get the opportunity to learn about various lines of the business such as our Client Services teams and our Research Operations teams including but not limited to Data Management, and Marketing Sciences.
Who You Are
- Designer with careful attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Photoshop, Illustrator, and PowerPoint are essential.
- Successfully manages time and multiple competing priorities in order to ensure deadlines are always met.
- Team player who is able to work collaboratively and/or initiate and drive projects to completion with minimal oversight.
- Internally-motivated self-starter who continuously strives to get things done, regardless of challenges encountered.
- Experience in market research/data visualization/designing visuals for research projects a plus.
Ideal Candidate
- Passion for / knowledge of principles of design (e.g.: layout, typography, color, balance, composition, and current design trends)
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft programs
- Experience with or interest in learning Google Slides and Keynote.
- Clear communication style, able to articulate ideas and voice constructive opinions.
- Strong interest in entertainment/sports/tech industries.
- 1+ year(s) of relevant coursework in design, marketing or visual communication.
- Candidates must be actively working toward an undergraduate or graduate degree and must be eligible to work in the US. Graduates may qualify if they have finished school within six months of the start of the internship.
Position Type
This is a temporary non-exempt position. We require interns to work up to a maximum of 16 hours per week with flexibility to work between the hours of 9am-6pm.
Work Environment
NRG provides flexible work options – employees will be given the choice to work remotely, work out of a designated office (Playa Vista, New York or London) or a hybrid of the two.
