The Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning and Digital Health team within Janssen R&D develops innovative insights and solutions leveraging a variety of different data sources across multiple disease areas. We are looking for an outstanding post-doctoral scientist whose responsibilities will include:
- Analyze data from wearable sensors to develop digital biomarkers using methodologies from signal processing and machine learning.
- Prepare and process raw sensor data streams to extract clinically relevant novel features.
- Build novel or enhance existing machine learning/deep learning algorithms or time-series models for digital endpoint development and validation.
- Build sensor data analysis and modeling pipelines to develop re-usable software assets.
- Independently partner with the Janssen R&D Data Science Portfolio Management and Therapeutic Area teams to execute on priorities.
- Contribute to data feasibility and study design such as defining “what” and “why” particular digital phenotype needs to be measured.
- Inform device selection and contribute to analysis planning.
- Communicate results to internal stakeholders and external partners through project reports and peer reviewed research publications.
Qualifications
Required:
- A recent Ph.D. degree within 3 years in a quantitative field such as computer science, electrical engineering, statistics, biomedical engineering, or related discipline.
- Strong background in data science, signal processing, and machine learning.
- Experience in analyzing data from wearable biosensors (e.g., accelerometer, ECG, PPG, EMG, EEG, voice).
- Knowledge and experience of time series analysis methodologies.
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Python, R, MATLAB and writing re-usable and well documented code.
- Demonstrated scientific excellence as measured by publications and presentations.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
Preferred:
- Experience with large scale data processing and integrating multi-modal datasets.
- Familiarity with drug discovery and the clinical development process.
