Social Media and Communications Internship

POSITION SUMMARY
American Rivers is seeking a Social Media and Communications Intern who will be responsible for creating and maintaining social media content for the organization, publishing content to AmericanRivers.org, and collecting data via google analytics. We are looking for someone who is obsessed with social media, ideally has experience with the Wordpress platform, and has a passion for all things rivers. 
 
The intern will improve their core communications skills by supporting the design and execution of social media posts. By helping to develop other social media campaigns and setting up web pages from scratch, the intern will also acquire strong back-end web skills. Through researching articles, interviewing American Rivers staff (where appropriate) and writing blog posts and website articles, the intern will develop valuable interpersonal skills and learn how to tailor media to a specific target audience. The intern will compile marketing statistics (e.g. followers, likes, etc.) on the success of campaigns, work in the back-end of our eCRM, and remain current with best practices, strategies, and industry standards related to online communications. 
 
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
·        Create and post content on social media
·        Create and edit web pages on Americanrivers.org
·        Pulling data reports from Google Analytics and other platforms
·        Assiting the digital team with research and content organization projects
·        Actively participate in team meetings and trainings
·        Manage and complete special project(s) and other duties as assigned
 
INTERN QUALIFICATIONS:
·        Strong verbal and written communication skills
·        Knowledge of social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Youtube, etc)
·        Some experience or understanding of WordPress or similar CMS.
·        Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word and Excel
·        Detail-Oriented and self-motivated
·        Able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
·        Ability to multi-task
·        Commitment to American Rivers’ Core Values
 
TIME COMMITMENT AND PAY: American Rivers’ fall internship lasts at least eight weeks between the period of September 2022 through December 2022. This internship requires a minimum commitment of 24 hours per week during regular business hours. This internship is unpaid. American Rivers will provide a teleworking subsidy of $50 per month during the internship period to help offset the costs of personal telecommunications and internet services. A transit subsidy of $5 per day is available to help offset the intern’s commute if commuting into an American Rivers office. In addition, American Rivers will work with the intern to obtain academic credit where available.
