Engineer, Roadway
Summary/Purpose:
As a Transportation Engineer at RK&K you will report to a Project Engineer and/or Project Manager and contribute directly to the project team with the design and preparation of a variety of projects while adhering to RK&K’s QC/QA guidelines.
Basic Responsibilities/Functions:
- Perform a wide variety of engineering tasks that may include:
- Data collection, engineering studies and analysis
- Development of concepts, designs, cost estimates
- Specifications for transportation/civil design tasks including; roadway, interchanges, intersections, parking, sidewalks, trails, grading, drainage, utilities, traffic control and sediment control in accordance with local, state and federal design guidelines, standards, specifications and regulations
- Prepare engineering plans using prescribed methods
- Contribute to computations, studies, analysis and design to evaluate and resolve design issues and ensure deliverables are completed within budget and on schedule
- Work in a collaborative environment with a diverse, multi-disciplined project team
- Communicate internally with coworkers and project teams, externally with client and project representatives via direct conversations, email, video, telephone and writing documentation
Required Technical and Functional Skills:
- Zero (0) – Two (2) years’ of relevant experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office and/or Bluebeam applications
Required Education and Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- EIT (Engineer in Training) or the ability to obtain in 6 months
