Case Management Intern

Case Management Internship 
Washington, D.C. 
Washington, D.C. has the highest rate of homelessness per capita in the United States and is one of the most economically divided cities in our country. Street Sense Media is looking for a socially conscious individual passionate about elevating the voices of people living without housing and leveraging their stories to create impact. 

Street Sense Media (SSM) was founded in 2003 as a street newspaper. Today, it has evolved into a full-spectrum multimedia center that offers people experiencing homelessness and living in extreme poverty with economic opportunity, media training, arts workshops, and case management services.

As a Case Management Intern, you will be responsible for monitoring and organizing client cases in a team-oriented environment. You will be directly involved in the lives of clients and vendors to provide resources and assistance to help achieve short- and long-term goals. You must be highly organized, empathetic, compassionate, nonjudgmental, and eager to help vulnerable adults. You will be under the supervision of the Director of Programs.

Internship periods: Year-round 

Note regarding COVID-19: This internship must be conducted on site. Additional PPE can be provided upon request.

Compensation: This is an unpaid internship. Academic credit may be provided.  
 
We’re looking for someone who…  
·        Is enrolled in an accredited university or college.
·        Is at least 21 years of age or older.
·        Has proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
·        Has excellent written and verbal communication skills.
·        Is self-directed and able to work without supervision.
·        Is energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas.  
    
What you’ll be doing:  
·        Assessing client needs and developing strategies to help clients.
·        Providing support and resources for clients, including developing a good working relationship with support networks, government resources, and community resources.
·        Researching and referring clients to resources such as healthcare, housing, financial, and recovery supports.
·        Caring for the well-being of clients and helping a wide range of clients, including people with serious illnesses, addictions, or disabilities or who have been neglected.
·        Other duties as assigned.

Financial Assistance:
