Department of Biology Grassland Ecology Lab Lab/Field Tech

We are seeking an undergraduate student excited to begin work in an ecological laboratory. The majority of their time will be dedicated towards processing data, with the option of collecting data in the field.

The selected student must be self-motivated, since their work schedule will be flexible and the amount of hours they work will be somewhat at their discretion. At minimum, the student should expect to work 10 hours per week, but they will have option to work up to 40 hours per week during the summer.

The selected student must also be willing to work during the Fall semester between 5 and 20 hours a week.

Tasks may include:
  • Processing and cataloging digital data
  • Preparing soil samples for analysis
  • Preparing plant tissue samples for analysis
  • Identifying, sorting, and weighing biomass
  • Entering and checking data

Must have competency with Excel to compile data, and are preferred to have an educational background in environmental science.

Pay rate is 12.56 per hour.

We are looking to hire one student, but additional positions may become available.

Student may start as soon as they are able and the hiring process is complete.
