Development Coordinator
Nu Deco Ensemble (NDE) invites applications for a full-time Development Coordinator. Made in Miami, Nu Deco Ensemble is a virtuosic and eclectic chamber orchestra designed for the 21st Century, co-founded by conductor Jacomo Bairos and composer Sam Hyken. Nu Deco Ensemble focuses on performing works by living composers, creating cutting-edge collaborations with special guests, and re-arranging works by innovative artists. The core 30-piece ensemble includes a string section; wind and brass; a full rhythm section consisting of both acoustic (percussion, piano) as well as electronic instruments (electric bass, electric guitar, drum machines and keyboards).
The Development Coordinator will be a vital member of the fundraising team, responsible for identifying and researching new sources of funding, serving as primary communicator for the development team, liaising with the Manager of Marketing & Patron Services to coordinate communications, and serving as the primary box office liaison and donor ticketing coordinator.
The Development Coordinator reports directly to the Director of External Relations and is responsible for, but not limited to, the following functions:
Fundraising
- Researching and identifying new sources of individual, corporate, foundation, and government funding
- Ensuring that all donor acknowledgements are sent in a timely manner, and that the CEO and Artistic Directors are completing appropriate acknowledgements
- In conjunction with the Director of External Relations, cultivate and steward current and new Nu Deco Members ($1,500-2,500), Corporate Supporters (>$5,000), In Kind Sponsorships, and other fundraising cultivation opportunities as assigned by the Director of External Relations
- Execute the logistics for all NDE development events, including receptions, donor recognition events, and other special events.
- Ensure that all Nu Deco Member benefits are fulfilled over the course of the year
- Copy writing skills to assist with grant and proposal writing, as well as creating supplemental materials for grant proposals
Communications/Systems
- Working with the Manager of Marketing and Patron Services, oversee the creation of the NDE digital program books for all performances, checking for donor recognition listings and logo placement
- Design and oversee the creation of direct mailings and member renewal letters
- Maintaining and ensuring that all donor information is properly inputted and updated in the Nu Deco CRM (Patron Manager/Salesforce)
- Run donor CRM reports for staff and board
- Manage the development communication calendars in Asana
- Facilitate development meetings with the board, staff, and creative team
- Oversee all mass stewardship communications to donors
- Gather feedback from donors throughout the year on programs
Donor Ticketing
- Serve as donor ticketing liaison, providing concierge services to all donors and overseeing seating arrangements at live events
- Communicating with all donors on upcoming concerts, special events, digital releases, and education and outreach programs
- Process all donor ticket requests throughout the season
- Maintain and manage the NDE member check-in table at all live events
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and/or 1-2 years of relevant fundraising experience
- Highly organized and self-motivated
- Creative and strategic thinker
- Excellent written and verbal communication and persuasion skills, with ability to present effectively internally and externally
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to deal with challenging personalities
- Ability to manage multiple projects/tasks at once, and pro-actively problem solve in a fast-paced environment
- Interest in or experience with live music and nonprofit arts organizations is strongly preferred
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint) and Google Workspace
- Proficient with Patron Manager/Salesforce, or other CRM software preferred
- Proficient with Asana, Slack, or other project management/communication software preferred
- Night and weekend work is required to work concerts and events between September-May
- A valid driver’s license
