Mental Health Therapist - DBT (LMSW/LLMSW, LPC/LLPC, LLP)


Full Time, Day Shift
Minimum Starting Salary: $55,536 / commensurate with experience

Do you have a passion for providing confidential mental health, addiction and co-occurring counseling services in a fast-paced outpatient setting with a flexible schedule? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to work as a Mental Health Therapist – DBT to make a difference in our community.

What You Will Be Doing
You will be providing comprehensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy on a team that has been certified by the Linehan Board of Certification. You will be providing individual DBT therapy, helping co-facilitate DBT skills classes, provide telephonic on call skills coaching, and participate in our consultation group. You will have training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy or the desire to obtain intensive training in the first year of working with us. You will have ongoing supervision and training by a nationally certified trainer to assist you in honing your skills in this gold standard evidenced based practice. You will conduct clinical evaluations and assessments to make sure people receive quality services that are appropriate to their level of need. You will complete all clinical documentation within 24 hours and will have considerable knowledge of Dialectical Behavior Therapy as well as brief solution focused therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, personality development, diagnosis, and suicide risk assessment and management. You will have a flexible schedule.

What We Require
You will be a Master’s level licensed professional with a minimum of one year of experience, three years strongly preferred. You will have extensive knowledge of the DSM V diagnostic criteria, co-occurring disorders, substance use disorders, evidence-based and promising practice interventions, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. You will be licensed as a LMSW/LLMSW, LPC/LLPC, or LLP. You will have previous training and certification as a DBT therapist or the desire/ability to obtain same.

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions:
Physical Efforts– Job demands include prolonged sitting and standing as appropriate. May occasionally require light lifting up to 25 pounds, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or bending as appropriate. Requires coordination of hands and/or eye/hand/foot.            

Working Conditions– Office environment with noise from computers, copy machine, and telephones. Use of computer for periods in excess of 30 minutes at a time. Possible eyestrain from extended periods of viewing computer screen. May be exposed to bloodborne pathogens, infectious diseases, and parasites. Travel throughout the Kalamazoo area is required.
