Community Health Manager

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Evaluates programs, procedures, and recommends modifications
Manages public and community health programs
Exercises supervision over subordinate personnel

Examples of Duties (UNDER GENERAL DIRECTION)
Assesses programs, evaluates policies and procedures for effectiveness, and recommends modifications
Prepares and submits reports
Assists in budget preparation and monitors and controls expenditures
Researches, designs, oversees and analyzes public health program data and policies
Manages community public health services program with multiple agency and community partner linkages
Assists in grant application, reporting and compliance
Develops working relationships with community partners who can assist in addressing public health goals of the program
Supports the efforts of multiple community based health and human services provider agencies
Oversees the development and coordination of training for staff and community partners
Participates in public health preparedness activities
Represents the department to governmental, social services and community health service agencies to coordinate, discuss, develops and improve health service programs
Performs related work

Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree
Business Administration
Community Health
Health Care
Nursing
Public Administration
Public Health
Social Science
Related field

WORK EXPERIENCE
Four years of maternal and child health, community or public health, or social service experience, including one year of supervisory experience

EQUIVALENCY
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted, but must include one year of supervisory experience

OTHER MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Must provide one's own source of transportation

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Meets regular and punctual attendance standards and any special needs of the position as determined by management, including mandatory overtime and performing related work
Supplemental Information
Skill in communication to communicate with police personnel and the public, and to testify in court
Ability to plan, organize and supervise the work of subordinates
Knowledge of principles of public health program management, current public health issues, and issues related to program assignment
Knowledge of grant writing, public relations and public health education
Knowledge of maternal and child health issues
Ability to effectively deal with professional staff, public officials, civic groups and interested parties
