Supervisory Interdisciplinary Civil/Agricultural Engineer (State Conservation Engineer)

Summary


This position serves as State Conservation Engineer. The incumbent serves as advisor to the State Conservationist on all engineering phases of Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) programs in the state and is responsible for establishing technical engineering standards and procedures (within the framework of national engineering standards and policies), methods of operation, training field personnel, and for the engineering phases of the work in the state.

Duties

Provides staff leadership in all phases of the engineering programs of NRCS in the state, including formulation of standards, specifications, engineering planning, design and construction.

Maintains close working relationship with members of the State Leadership Team, engineers, scientists, universities as well as the State Land Improvement Contractors? Association.

Keeps engineering standards and procedures up to date and train field engineers. Develops engineering forms, handbooks and guides, worksheets, job sheets, charts, and tables.

Responsible for supervision of federal employees to include setting performance standards, evaluates performance for subordinate, and make recommendations to provide a balanced representation of minority and women.

Prepare reports, maintains records, and identify opportunities and forward recommendations to reduce field level workload.
