New paid opportunity with ETS!
We are forming a Photography Content Development Team (CDT) to support development of the TOEIC® test—a test used to measure English language skills. TOEIC test takers are shown photographs which they must describe or which they must answer questions about. That’s where our Photography CDT comes in! This community of photographers will collaboratively produce high-quality photos and associated assessment items (test questions). Members will take photos, review and select photos together, write, review, and revise associated items together, then will submit their work as a team. We hope you will share this information with all interested parties, including students, instructors, and professionals in the field.
How will the CDT work?
A small team from across the U.S. will meet regularly using online platforms to receive project orientation, receive and complete assignments, constructively review each other’s work, resolve challenges, implement content development strategies, and grow collective skills.
An ETS test developer will initially serve as the team Lead, providing work assignments, deadlines, and coaching. Assignments and virtual working sessions will be dispersed over the course of six months, the initial commitment to the project. Virtual meetings will be held evenings and weekends to ensure all team members can attend. Team members can expect to allocate an estimated 10-20 hours monthly to the team’s work.
When will the CDT begin working?
An orientation session will be held in late July, and teams will begin working promptly.
CDT members will gain an increased understanding of:
· the TOEIC photo selection process and assessment item types
· how to write high-quality multiple-choice questions
· effective strategies for reviewing and refining test content
CDT members can expect to share:
· strategies for taking acceptable photos
· feedback on test items drafted by fellow CDT members to develop a refined final product
· feedback on the CDT experience for continuous program improvements
· gained expertise to help launch future CDTs
What is the assignment and compensation structure?
Since each team will be a self-organizing group, assignments will be provided to the team as a whole. In collaboration with the team Lead, the members will determine who will undertake which tasks and how they will collaborate on each assignment to ensure that deadlines are met. As such, availability and a strong sense of shared ownership are key to the team’s success.
Applicants who are selected for the CDT team will be notified by email and will receive a six-month contract with details on total compensation for the term of the contract, including the amount of each periodic payment. Subsequent, longer contracts will be available for those who perform well.
If you are interested, please complete the following two steps by July 12. Selections will be made within a week of the deadline.
