WNYC Studios Podcast Development Internship (September-May)

WNYC Studios Podcast Development Internship
WNYC Studios is home to several sound-rich narrative series with short runs, including “La Brega: stories of the Puerto Rican experience” and “Blindspot: Tulsa Burning.” This year, we’re pleased to be producing a new season of “La Brega,” as well as other limited-run series soon to be announced.
We’re looking for an intern who will assist in making several new shows in development – from first taping to launch.

The intern will participate in story development, research, tapings, editorial meetings, and group edits. They’ll learn basic production skills and – based on their interest and ability – help shape the programming itself. They will also work with partners across the building (from Audience to Digital) and see up-close the intersection between the content and its successful distribution.
WNYC Studios runs on creativity, curiosity, and collaboration – if you do too, please apply!

Responsibilities
  • Participate in production, editorial, and other planning meetings.
  • Research and help develop episodes and stories; book and prep interviews.
  • Complete basic production tasks, including pulling clips, assisting in tapings, and gathering sound.
  • Help manage the elements of production – from audio to images.

Qualifications
  • An avid listener. We’re looking for someone who both consumes podcasts and is excited to learn how to make them.
  • A strong writer and communicator.
  • A great team member. We’re looking for someone who can work collaboratively but also independently; someone who likes to jump in often and ask how they can help.
  • Journalism and/or research experience preferred
  • Production experience (audio or video) preferred
  • While proficiency in Spanish would be especially helpful for this internship, it is not a requirement.

In order to be eligible for an internship at New York Public Radio you must be currently enrolled in, or have graduated no more than 12 months prior to the start of the internship to which you are applying for, from an accredited undergraduate or graduate program.
