Outreach & Education Specialist - Idaho Immunization Program

The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare is seeking a full-time limited service Health Education Specialist to work in the outreach section of the Idaho Immunization Program in the Bureau of Communicable Disease Prevention. In this role you will have the opportunity to organize educational events for healthcare providers, schools, and childcare facilities.
General Information:
- Organize and execute a regular online educational webinar series
- Manage the process to approve continuing education credits for program education events
Successful candidates must be able to work autonomously and within teams. Candidates must also display reliability, excellent communication skills, attention to detail, a high level of professionalism, and an exceptional ability to successfully coordinate and complete multiple tasks. This position may require some in-state travel. In-state telework or a hybrid schedule is an option.

Our generous benefits package increases the total compensation of a full-time (benefits eligible) Health Education Specialist making $23.31/hour to an estimated $33.93/hour.

This is a limited service position. Length of limited service appointments are determined by the availability of funds such as grants, alternative funding sources and/or timeframes such as pilot projects, alternative funding sources or program termination.

Example of Duties
- Plan and execute regular educational webinars including topic selection, speaker requests, and scheduling for healthcare providers, school health personnel, and/or childcare providers
- Evaluate webinar programs, recommend changes as appropriate, and create policies and procedures as needed
- Develop supplemental educational materials as appropriate
- Oversee the process to approve continuing education credits for program education events
Minimum Qualifications

- Good knowledge of public health education principles and practices to include needs assessment, information dissemination and community organization relating to common health problems
- Good knowledge of basic disease etiologies and preventive strategies
- Good knowledge of survey methods and basic statistics used to collect and interpret data
- Good knowledge of training methods
- Experience developing or reviewing and evaluating health-related informational material

- Experience planning educational events (virtual and/or in person). Gained by at least one year of related professional experience.
- Some knowledge of immunization best practices. Gained by at least one year of related professional experience or completion of at least one related, upper-level college course.
