#1239 - R&D Engineer

POSITION DESCRIPTION
We are looking for an R&D Engineer interested in Thermoplastics to join our growing team.  The Entry Level R&D Engineer works under direct supervision of a mentor to complete on the job training to develop the foundational skills of material testing and process development. During this time, they will gain a detailed understanding and experience in Janicki Industries procedures, standards, systems and expectations as well as the company’s overall operation. A mentor will guide and review the incumbent’s efforts as they support engineers in the design and engineering of testing and development efforts. During their time as a trainee they will be restricted from releasing any engineering.  A trainee may become eligible for role advancement in the Engineering Teams Job hierarchy, upon completion of their training and the discretion of their supervisor/mentor.
The following essential job functions are performed as a R&D Engineer:
  • Manage test plans with fixed cost and schedule constraints
  • Assist with the development of new processes
  • Operate laboratory equipment
  • Identify process improvement opportunities
  • Fabricate test articles
  • Perform research on an assigned topic
  • Create and present professional reports
  • Regular interaction with internal customers
  • Attend industry trade shows, seminars, classes, or conferences
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace
  • Follow safe work practices
QUALIFICATIONS
Due to our ITAR and EAR regulations, applicants must be a US Citizen or of Legal Permanent Resident Status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b (a) (3).
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
  • A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in Engineering, Material Science, or similar field with zero to two years of experience
  • A basic understanding of material properties and testing
  • Experience with research, data analysis, and problem solving
  • Must have a working technical knowledge of composite materials
  • Experience with hand tools, power tools, and CNC tools is highly desired
  • Must be detail oriented and self-motivated
  • Minimum requirement for all positions is a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must have effective verbal and written communication skills in the English language.
