Process Engineer

Job Description
SUMMARY
 
Provide support to production processes and manufacturing equipment controls and automation. Programming of robotics, visions systems and PLC’s on new and existing equipment. Support other Ilpea plants as needed. 
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
 
Improve machine reliability, process, and reduce costs
 
Program vision systems, PLC’s, and robotics.
 
Implementation of new machines and automation to the company.
 
Work with outside vendors on new equipment,
 
Troubleshooting of process issues.
 
Resolve quality problems in collaboration with the Quality Assurance Department.
 
Investigate design proposals for improving equipment performance or to obtain data for development, standardization, and quality control.
 
Improving production results with regards to safety, quality, and scrap.
 
Development of new production processes.
 
Assumes additional related responsibilities as required.
 
Time spent of programming, 30%.
 
Practice good housekeeping and safety rules.
 
Perform all other such duties and special assignments as may be requested by the Engineering Manager.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
 
Minimum of a four year college degree in Engineering, Manufacturing or related discipline. Experience with automation programming in a high volume manufacturing environment. The following skills are desired: experience with robotics (Fanuc), PLC programming, vision programming (Cognex), and experience in an extrusion or injection molding environment.
 
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
 
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
 
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
 
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
May be required to travel, 15%.
