Application Engineer

Job Description:
JCI Industries, Inc. currently has an opening in their Wichita, Kansas office for an Application Engineer. This will be an on-site position providing direct customer support in McPherson, Kansas.
As a team, our associates strive to provide exceptional products and services to our valued customers. Application Engineers ensure that the customer’s technical requirements are met in an efficient and effective manner. They are responsible for the quoting of Pumps, Motors, New Production, Pump & Motor Repair and Field Service. 
 
Essential Job Functions

  • Field customer phone calls/emails and provide technical solutions with the use of factory reps or outside sales when necessary
  • Prepare professional and timely new unit and repair proposals
  • Select and size appropriate pump/motor for specific application based on mechanical/hydraulic/electrical specifications provided by outside sales or customer
  • Work with shop and quality department personnel to provide accurate inspection and assembly packets for repair jobs, including: gathering BOM’s, Cross Sectional Drawings, and Mechanical Component Prints
  • Provide detailed information/drawings of pump layouts to shop for assembly of new units
  • Help to resolve any customer issues that arise during the production/repair process
  • Prioritize incoming requests from outside sales, customers, and management to assure timely completion
  • Coordinate with outside sales and management to obtain monthly goals and objectives. This includes sales, profit margin, on time delivery, etc.
  • Attend sales meetings to discuss current sales numbers, future goals, and product updates
  • Act as “Product Line Champion” for specified pump line and provide support and updates to the group as needed
  • Provide backup to other Application Engineers to support customer needs as required
  • Perform analysis of customer equipment and assemble failure reports to provide benefit to the customer
  • Prepare professional presentations highlighting key data and performance goals according to the specified key performance indicators

Requirements


  • 4-Year Engineering Degree or equivalent preferred
  • Experience with mechanical/electrical repair or machine work is a plus
  • Ability to deal with customers and co-workers in a pleasant and professional manner
  • Strong PC skills
  • Strong communication, organizational and time management skills
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills
  • Must be able to show competency performing calculations, as well as reviewing and understanding technical specifications, exploded diagrams, and cross-sectional drawings
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in constructive and timely manner
  • Ability to lift/handle equipment weighing _50__ lbs.
  • Be capable of entering an actively operating plant and performing equipment walk-downs
