Fall 2022 Virtual Intern - Healthcare Delivery & Disparities Research

The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) is offering a Virtual Fall Internship to a qualified candidate who will support the Healthcare Delivery & Disparities Research team. This paid internship is a part-time, temporary employment opportunity averaging 20 - 30 hours per week for a postgraduate student or PhD candidate. PCORI does not provide housing for out of town residents. All applicants must be eligible to work in the US and located in the US. Pay Range and Employment Status:
Interns shall be classified as temporary employees who are hired as interim replacements, to temporarily supplement the workforce, or to assist in the completion of a specific project and who are temporarily scheduled to work for a limited duration. Employment beyond any initially stated period does not in any way imply a change in employment status. Temporary workers are not eligible for PCORI benefits. 
Current master's level and above students will be paid $20.00 per hour. 
 
 
The Healthcare Delivery & Disparities Research department is seeking an intern who will have the opportunity to:
  • Participate in a project that will help with expanding characterization of PCORI’s telehealth portfolio to accurately reflect the considerable expansion of telehealth use during the COVID-19 pandemic and identifying important research gaps in the PCORI portfolio.
  • Gain exposure to highly complex comparative effectiveness research projects studying telehealth modalities in the evolving landscape of telehealth.
  • Gain experience with portfolio analysis/meta-analysis; synthesizing a funded portfolio of ongoing research studies (PCORI’s telehealth portfolio).
  • Build skills in data coding, analysis, and interpretation, public speaking, summarizing complex, detailed information in concise and reader-friendly formats.

Required Skills

The Healthcare Delivery & Disparities Research team is seeking an intern that will meet the following requirements:
 
  • Interest in telehealth
  • Experience with data coding
  • Basic data analysis skills (e.g., running frequencies in Excel)
  • Strong written and oral communication skills

Required Experience

Ideal candidates will be currently enrolled in a Master's program or a PhD candidate in one of the following areas: Social Science, Social Work, Health Policy, Public Health, Public Administration, Health Sciences, Health Administration/Management  or related field.

Applications for the PCORI Fall Internship Program will be accepted up to 12:00pm EST on Friday, July 1. Applicants who are chosen will be phone screened by PCORI People Strategy and Services. Virtual interviews with relevant intern supervisors will take place from July 18 - 22.
