Internship: Employee Experience Research

THE POSITION
 The Employee Experience team in Human Resources is seeking an intern to assist with qualitative and quantitative research projects. This position will assist with data collection, analysis, and reporting to help our organization improve attraction, engagement, and retention efforts to support our talented, diverse workforce. This intern will have the opportunity to practice applying qualitative and quantitative research techniques to understand real-world employment issues and make data-informed recommendations for action. Join us to learn about our employee experience framework and make a difference in Hennepin County employees' work experiences!  
 
Location and hours:
This position is remote. Remote workers may be required to come on-site an average of 0 to 12 days a year for work meetings, trainings, or for any other reasons that their supervisor may deem necessary (may include additional days for onboarding and new employee training). Supervisors will provide as much advance notice as practicable. While this position is designated as remote based on current requirements, hires must reside in Minnesota or Wisconsin.

Work hours will be flexible during core business hours, between 20-40 hours per week, Monday-Friday

New employees who are hired into remote or hybrid positions between January 2, 2022 to December 31, 2024, will receive $500 toward the cost of establishing consistent internet connectivity, payable after the new employee successfully completes probation.

This position is a non-benefit earning internship. The duration of this internship is expected to be one year.

In this position, you will:
  • Assist with the administration of surveys, interviews, and focus groups.
  • Develop survey, interview, and focus group questions.
  • Conduct exit and stay interviews as part of the HR Interview Workgroup.
  • Analyze, interpret, and present data in informative ways to meet the needs of multiple stakeholders and diverse audiences.
  • Code/theme and analyze qualitative data for sentiment using Qualtrics TextIQ.
  • Assist with the maintenance and updating of Qualtrics reporting dashboards. 
  • Conduct best practice and applied research as needed to provide department-level and organization-wide recommendations on how to improve the employee experience and better attract and retain a talented, diverse workforce. 
  • Support the Employee Experience team and Organization Development projects, as needed.

Need to have:
  • One of the following:
  • Recent graduate (within six months) of a bachelor’s degree program in any field.
  • Currently enrolled in a master’s or doctorate degree program in any field. 

Nice to have:
  • Ability to:
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. 
  • Learn qualitative and quantitative data collection methods, analysis, and reporting. 
  • Maintain employee/participant confidentiality and trust. 
  • Experience:
  • Conducting surveys, interviews, and focus groups.
  • Analyzing qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Ability to:
  • Apply problem-solving skills and make data-informed recommendations for action.
  • Learn data collection and analysis functions of Qualtrics.
  • Knowledge of:
  • Human resources programming, policy, and practices.
  • Quantitative and qualitative data collection methods, analysis, and reporting.
