Sustainability Non Profit Management Intern – SWEEP – New York, NY (Remote)
About the Job
The Solid Waste Environmental Excellence Performance Standard (SWEEP) is a non-profit start-up founded by the creator of the LEED Green Building Rating System, Rob Watson. SWEEP is creating a suite of triple-bottom-line standards to promote best practices and collaboration within the materials management industry. SWEEP is currently managing the pilot phase of the SWEEP+ Standard which is targeted at the top 25% of performance in local government participants and relevant industry counterparts (e.g. waste haulers, material recovery facilities, and landfills). 
SWEEP is seeking a motivated individual to join our team as an Sustainability Non Profit Management Intern. The ideal candidate is detail oriented, personable, and can be relied on to facilitate various managerial/administrative tasks. This position works directly with SWEEP’s Program Manager and occasionally with SWEEP’s volunteer professionals, as well as the Founder. 
***This is an unpaid internship position. Duration: 2 Months (July + August).***
Responsibilities
  • Help design and research membership and certification presentations to a variety of customers
  • Aid in the process of securing webinar speakers and facilitating SWEEP webinar events
  • Manage/communicate timely webinar logistic details to presenters
  • Organize/Gather webinar presenter collateral (headshots, bios, webinar title, short webinar description etc)
  • Create and send agendas for Standards and Steering Committee weekly/bi-weekly meetings 
  • Take meeting minutes for both weekly/bi-weekly committee meetings 
  • Set up Zoom calendar meeting invites
  • Check in with Program Manager/President to make sure times/dates work
  • Create facts and figures documentation for pitches to potential customers

Skills and Experience 
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or graduate not-for-profit management study enrollment preferred 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel (Canva a plus!)
  • Proven proficiency in attention to detail, schedule management and organizational skills. This includes the ability to work in a fast paced environment with multiple initiatives at various stages at any one time
  • Ability to make independent decisions on a daily basis, addressing the best way to handle specific tasks
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience supporting personnel, management and clients on a regular basis.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks based on importance
