Bookkeeping / Staff Accountant

Role: Bookkeeping & Office Admin
Type: Full Time, Primarily Remote, Entry-Level
Rate: $25.00 per hour


Job Description / Requirements
  • Ability to work-from-home including access to a reliable computer, internet, and suitable working environment.
  • Must be willing/able to commute once every few weeks to Manhattan for onsite meetings.
  • Candidates should be quick learners with the ability to work independently and proactively.
  • Some experience or knowledge with Accounting and Bookkeeping, including QuickBooks or other accounting systems, is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word is required.
  • Perform Administrative tasks, such as: billing and time management, file and/or label client emails, internal organization, and the scheduling of relevant events, programs, and activities including the work of others.
  • Role may include other relevant administrative, HR, or marketing responsibilities, as-interested and presented by the candidate.
  • Assist CPA and Senior-level staff with various other bookkeeping tasks ad-hoc, time-permitted.
  • Work schedule is negotiable and can be discussed during the interview process. Candidates should be available during the week and have at least two or three days of availability to work-from-home.

EMS Consulting Services is led by Eric Sherb, a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), who has over 13 years of experience in accounting advisory and auditing. Formerly a Senior Auditor at a large public accounting firm, Eric started EMS Consulting Services to provide small and mid-sized public/private companies with dedicated consulting on accounting and finance. Eric has extensive financial reporting experience including closing the books, preparing financials, audit readiness, IPO readiness, investor and management reporting, and regular financial analyses including budgeting.
EMS Consulting Services often works with companies to implement or improve current accounting processes. This includes setting up the general ledger, regular balance sheet reconciliations, and creating streamlined processes for a timely monthly close. Including regular monthly bookkeeping, clean-up from prior periods, and CPA advisory, we also assist with accounting for complex transactions such as revenue recognition, debt/equity, M&A, and more.
