Speech- Language Pathologist- Hamilton School District

Hamilton School District #3 is looking for a positive, pro-active, and team oriented certified SLP to join our professional team. Please apply @ hsd3.org - (Open Until Filled) Salary DOE $50,000 – 70,000 -  Insurance Contribution $675.00 per month – 15 days PTO each year.3 positions open 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Act in concert with legal requirements and ethical codes of the profession.
  • Knowledgeable of, and adheres to, Federal, State and Local rules and regulations and other guidelines for Special Education and is an active participating member of CST and IEP teams.
  • Effectively assess speech and language disorders and implement sound and appropriate remediation programs for students from a wide range of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds and with varying mental, social, and emotional abilities.
  • Observe, evaluate, monitor and effectively communicate students’ eligibility for Speech Therapy related services and progress on I.E.P. goals and objectives in understandable terms.
  • Develop and implement appropriate individualized speech therapy programs, coordinating school and home activities with the parents, teachers, other therapists, school administrators, physicians, rehabilitation center, hospitals, as needed.
  • Provide a stimulating speech and language therapy environment, as well as, research and implement evolving best practices for a continuum of communication disabilities.
  • Provide consultative services to staff within assigned buildings for pre-referral/referral purposes
  • Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and medical personnel in order to achieve positive outcomes for students.
  • Knowledge of Augmented communication devices for students with multiple disabilities.
  • Maintains cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
  • Knowledge and ability to work creatively in small language groups and/or in the classroom environments.
  • Demonstrate professional growth and participate in evaluation and improvement of district programs.
  • Assists in Child Find testing activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current State Speech Pathology license registered with the County Superintendent.
  • Successful experience in public school setting and/or related experience in an educational or clinical setting as a Speech Language Pathologist preferred.
  • Experience working with and interest in students who have severe cognitive disabilities and/or autism preferred.
  • Experience with augmented and alternative communication preferred.
  • Knowledge of developmental milestones and general children's development.
  • Ability to organize and coordinate therapy activities and programs.
  • Ability to use adaptive equipment and tools.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, and staff.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Other qualifications as deemed appropriate

EQUIPMENT USED:

Computer, calculator, copier, telephone/voice mail, fax. Adaptive equipment as needed for individual students.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; occasionally walk and stand. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is required to be able to hear conversations in quiet environments. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in what can be a stressful environment. The employee must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints. The employee is directly responsible for the safety and well-being of students. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

MENTAL/MOTOR DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee rarely performs routine work. The employee frequently exercises flexibility (ability to shift from one task to another). Guidance and reinforcement are infrequently available. The employee frequently works within time constraints and maintains attentiveness intensity. The employee is frequently involved in social interactions which require oral and written communications.
