The Social Science Research Council’s Just Tech program is seeking an organized and dedicated Program Assistant to support all aspects of the program’s work, including the Just Tech Fellowship, the program’s dynamic digital platform, and its administrative operations.
Along with general program support responsibilities, this person will focus in particular on the program’s public-facing presence, including convenings, mailings, social media, and community-building. They must be comfortable and proficient at representing the program and its priorities and principles at virtual and in-person events, meetings, and in correspondence and communications with the program’s network of leaders, scholars, and interested community.
The Just Tech program administers a fellowship that centers care and support for emerging leaders at the intersection of technology and justice. This position requires a candidate who can self-direct and manage detail-oriented work while demonstrating professionalism and dedication to the program’s values and goals. The Program Assistant will be expected to be an active participant in modeling and creating a healthy work culture within and beyond the Just Tech team.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include the following:
- Develop and execute events, meetings, workshops for JT Fellows in close coordination with JT Directors and Program Officer
- Maintain mailing lists and prepare regular mailings to JT community lists
- Create invitations, guest lists, events-related communications
- Set up and coordinate virtual and in-person events
- Identify goals, capture outputs and metrics in coordination with the Program Coordinator
- Build and maintain schedules and invites for meetings, convenings, retreats, and other regular engagements
- Take notes and manage archive of events, convenings, mailings, and correspondence
- Coordinate with Just Tech platform editors to collect and generate community content
- In consultation with editorial team and fellowship team, contribute to day-to-day social media and website communications
Qualifications
Required:
- A bachelor’s degree
- Events management experience
- Advanced communication skills; exceptional and compelling communicator with excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build strong relationships, work collaboratively
- Ability to work effectively and productively in virtual and in-person environments
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Demonstrated ability to problem solve and ensure high quality through attention to details and requirements
- Commitment to diversity within the office using a personal approach that values all individuals and respects differences in regards to race, ethnicity, age, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, religion, disability and socio-economic circumstance
Preferred:
- Experience in digital/social media marketing and/or community engagement
- Skilled at infusing energy into innovative and creative initiatives
- Thorough understanding of current cultural conversations and trends in technology and social justice
- A passion for community-building strategies (digital and in-person)
Terms, Salary and Benefits
