Biorepository Lab Technician

The IU Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center (IUSCCC) is one of only 70 National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated cancer centers in the United States. The IUSCCC puts significant resources into developing research programs, faculty, and facilities that will lead to better approaches to prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer.
The Biospecimen Collection & Banking Core supports cancer research by providing comprehensive biospecimen management including collection, storage, distribution, and annotation.

Job Summary

The IU Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center is seeking a Biorepository Lab Tech to perform laboratory services for the Biospecimen Collection and Banking Core (BC2) at the Schwarz Cancer Center at IU Health North.
General Responsibilities
  • Prepares samples (manual and robotic) and sample shipment to national and international destinations
  • Tracks specimens and enters data for sample processing
  • Reviews sample reports and identifies specimens requiring additional handling and processing
  • Works with study PIs and study coordinators to develop laboratory flow diagrams to comply with study specifications
  • Validates new equipment, maintains and monitors repository-specific equipment

Qualifications

EDUCATION / WORK EXPERIENCE
Required
  • Bachelor's degree plus 1 year of laboratory experience OR
  • Master's degree plus 6 months of laboratory experience
Preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or biotechnology
  • Master's degree in biology, chemistry, or biotechnology
