Product Designer and Senior Product Designer (Multiple Locations)

This role has multiple levels, open to candidates with 3 to 5 years minimum experience in UX. The successful candidate will be hired for the level of the position that aligns with their experience.
U.S. Bank is expanding the User Experience Design Team (UXDesign) in support of our business transformation to a human centric experience. This is no “business as usual” group. In order to succeed, we need people who have high energy and aren’t afraid to dive in.
We have multiple opportunities open at various levels based on experience as a Product Designer or a Senior Product Designer. This is a great opportunity to bring brilliant digital experiences to our customers in helping to ensure U.S. Bank is central to our customers wherever they go!

Specifically, you will be responsible for planning and designing a consistent experience architecture of our customer facing interfaces and experiences across a spectrum of digital and real-world touchpoints. Partners with business analysts, developers, testers, product owners and compliance specialists to translate requirements into experience architectures. Responsibilities include:
  • Employs a range of human-centered, accessible design techniques, such as conceptual models, personas, user flows, wireframes, and interactive prototypes, to determine and convey design decisions.
  • Optimizes experience architecture to promote findability and usability, while accommodating technical and business needs/constraints.
  • Reviews artifacts and deliverables from peers to ensure they accurately represent or improve upon the U.S. Bank layout, design and interaction patterns.
  • Accurately interprets how the U.S. Bank brand is applied to interaction modules, screen layouts, style guides, pattern libraries, images, icons and other visual elements.
  • Formally observes user interviews and usability sessions.
  • Works concurrently on multiple tasks or projects in an agile environment.
  • Delivers assets of record, e.g., wireframes, versioned prototypes, flow / process diagrams, etc.
  • Participates in validating code is built as designed during projects (according to brand standards, style guides and pattern libraries).
Examples of projects include:

  • Insights/Dashboarding - In this role, the successful candidate will be part of a team that owns insights for the designated segment. This team will be diving into different analytics, using data such as AI, internal data, etc., to create a cohesive and meaningful dashboard for the designated segment.
  • API/Open Banking - In this role, the successful candidate will be part of a team that is architecting responsive web for our API developer portal.  An open banking API, or application program interface, enables USB to share financial data with other banks or financial industries, through a third party-developed application. Third party-developed applications are created by emerging FinTech companies and collaborators looking to make the digital banking industry better for everyone. The crux of this team’s work is focused on building out those entry points (marketing for attracting and existing for internal) and portal experiences to house and deploy these capabilities across the platforms and organization.
Leveling of position will depend on qualifications. Please read below for Basic and Preferred Qualifications of each level.
Product Designer
Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience
  • Three to five years of related work experience, such as UX or digital industry
Preferred Skills/Experience

  • 4-6 years of experience in UX Product Design principles - including creating wireframes
  • Experience in Product Design for Native iOS, Native Android and/or Responsive Web
  • Connected devices and IoT experience
  • Understanding of prototyping and motion design principles, strongly preferred
  • Good knowledge of user experience (UX) best practices, interactive design principles, information architecture and experience architecture
  • Good knowledge of design thinking process and framework, and familiarization with workshop and co-creations
  • Good knowledge of website architecture, interactive design principles, web usability, and online marketing and business needs
  • Familiar with common design software
  • Strong communication, facilitation and presentation skills
  • Ability to problem-solve and work independently
Senior Product Designer
Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (preferred emphasis on Service Design, Product Design, Experience Architecture or Information Architecture), or equivalent experience
  • Five to eight years of related work experience, such as UX or digital industry, with at least one year of team leadership experience

Preferred Skills/Experience 
  • Six to Eight years of experience in UX Product Design principles - including creating wireframes
  • Experience in UX Product Design for Native iOS, Native Android and/or Responsive Web
  • Connected devices and IoT experience
  • Thorough knowledge of user experience (UX) best practices, interactive design principles, information architecture and experience architecture; Service Design knowledge a plus 
  • Thorough knowledge of design thinking process and framework, and familiarization with workshop and co-creations 
  • Thorough knowledge of website architecture, interactive design principles, web usability, and online marketing and business needs 
  • Experience with user-centered design from concept to delivery 
  • Experience/familiarity with CSS and responsive design
  • Familiar with common design software
  • Experience working in a cross-channel environment, including desktop/laptop, mobile, devices and brick-and-mortar locations; internal facing systems experience a plus
  • Experience collaborating with large teams
  • Strong communication, facilitation and presentation skills
  • Ability to problem-solve and work independently
