Mental Health Counselor

The School Counselor/School Mental Health Worker provides counseling to students in need of counseling and/or support with their mental health needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provides necessary counseling as required for the student and/or as outlined in the student’s IHP
  • Asses the students' psychosocial needs, and evaluate the progress
  • Collaborates with all disciplines to plan and evaluate goals for each student
  • Develop, implement and manage school guidance programs
  • Utilizes a variety of therapy techniques and treatment plans
  • Works with student’s in individual, small group and/or classroom settings
  • Facilitates student’s learning involving life skills, organization techniques and time management
  • Assisting student’s with creating an academic plan for their education
  • Performs other duties as assigned/necessary
 Minimum Requirements:
  • Licensing/Certification according to state/facility requirement
  • The Counselor may possess an Associate’s Degree, Bachelor’s Degree or Masters in Psychology, Addictions, Sociology, Social Work, Counseling, Nursing, or some other Human Development major They must have the required licensing/certification for the specific position if applicable
  • Current health certificate/physical exam, as required by state regulations or client requirement specifications
  • Current PPD or Chest X-Ray (as applicable per state/client requirement)
  • Computer proficiency preferred
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills
  • Successful completion of background screening and onboarding process
  • Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements
