Social media intern (paid)

The New Republic is seeking an intern to join our social media and editorial teams in June. This is a paid position. You must be based in the metro area of New York City or Washington, D.C., where TNR has offices—but you have the option of working remotely.

The intern assists the social media editor and reports to the executive editor. The ideal candidate pays close attention to detail, has strong writing skills, and shows initiative in their work. Journalism experience is preferred, but not imperative; some familiarity with content management systems is helpful. Interns may have the opportunity to pitch and write web stories of their own. Interns are asked to contribute to The New Republic by:

—Drafting social media copy for platforms including, but not limited to, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Reddit

—Collecting data from analytics tools (Chartbeat, Google Analytics)

—Assisting in web production, including digital management of the TNR archives

—Conducting research, copyediting, and transcribing interviews or podcasts
