Registered Nurse - II - Immunization Nurse - Summerville Health Dept.

Under supervision of site supervisor, provides Immunizations services to individuals within established guidelines in clinics and community settings. Provides nursing care per agency policies/procedures and standing medical orders. Provides quality customer service and maintains strict confidentiality.

Within established guidelines, obtains patient data through observation and interviews/history; provides nursing care per established plan of care and/or policies/procedures. Documents care provided in accordance with agency policies/procedures. Reviews immunization status, administers age appropriate vaccines per standing orders; completes the SC Certificate of Immunization appropriately. . Discusses significant findings or observations with the appropriate registered nurse and documents accordingly. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum and Additional Requirements
State Minimum Requirements: Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing. Some positions require a valid driver's license. Also, some positions require certification in Basic Life Support and/or Basic/Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.

Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

Agency Additional Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Nursing and current licensure as an RN in South Carolina or a compact state.

Knowledge and skills of practical nursing procedures. Ability to make accurate technical and physical observations of patients and to document findings. Ability to follow the plan of care established by the Registered Nurse and to report appropriate findings.  Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to function as a team member. Ability to perform health teaching. Ability to recognize and report significant findings or observations to the Registered Nurse. 

Current driver's license or ability to obtain transportation. May be required to use personal vehicle. Able to lift 30 pounds and stand for long periods. CPR Certification within the first six months and then as required. Able to work evenings (after 5pm) or early hours (before 8:30 am) and/ or Saturday clinics. May require travel to other sites in the region. 

Participates in an emergency or disaster as outlined in the DHEC Emergency Plans. During such times, the incumbent should regard himself/herself as being on 24-hour call and subject to duty when such events occur and/or are anticipated to occur. Travel throughout the Lowcountry Region for clinic coverage in other sites, trainings and meetings is required.
