Community Health Analyst

Salary  Range: $24.78 - $33.10 Hourly

About the Position
The Community Health Analyst 1 (CHA 1) will support the work of the Lane County Public Health Prevention Section. This is the entry level position in the professional Community Health Analyst series. This CHA 1 position will support all of the Prevention work including SUDS, Suicide, Problem Gambling, Tobacco, and our integrated work with our local Coordinated Care Organizations. This position will be assigned where the need is greatest. The ideal applicant will have a well-rounded, broad Prevention background or be passionate to learn multiple content areas. Flexibility, adaptability, and a willingness to do whatever work needs to be done are preferred qualities. 

CHA 1 positions are responsible for applying critical thinking and statistical reasoning to identify, analyze, and address community health problems; to implement and evaluate public health programs and policies; to collaborate with community partners to promote community health; enforce public health laws; and to perform related duties as assigned.

About the Division
Prevention is a Section of Lane County Public Health. Prevention leads efforts to plan, promote, and create the optimal social environmental conditions for community health and well-being by reducing risk factors and promoting protective factors. Prevention improves community health in the following ways:
  • Influencing policy and legislation
  • Mobilizing neighborhoods and communities
  • Fostering coalitions and networks
  • Facilitating change of internal practices and policies of agencies, workplaces, and institutions
  • Educating healthcare providers and other professionals
  • Promoting community education
  • Strengthening individual knowledge and skills 

Some of the topic areas Prevention focuses on are: Suicide, Problem Gambling, Substance Use Disorder, Substance Misuse, Tobacco, Mental Health, and other related areas. Prevention also works closely with our County schools (k-12) and with our local Community Care Organizations (CCOs).

Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8:00am - 5:00pm

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's degree in Public Health (MPH); Master's of Science degree in Public Health (MSPH); Master's degree in Prevention Science; Master's degree in Planning Public Policy and Management; or a Master's degree with major course work in Public or Mental Health from an accredited college or university.
or:
  • Bachelor's degree with major course work in Public Health, Mental Health, Public Administration, or Public Policy.
  • Public Health experience preferred but not required with Master's degree.
  • Two years of increasingly responsible experience in Public Health program planning, implementation and evaluation, data collection and analysis, and community mobilization with Bachelor's degree.
  • An equivalent combination of program relevant experience and training that demonstrates the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.

Special Requirements:
  • Some positions may require a Certified Prevention Specialist designation within two years of hire.

  • Please note that as part of the screening process Lane County will verify license and certification status.
  • One of the essential functions of this position is to travel within Lane County (occasionally outside of Lane County) to completed scheduled meetings.
  • In accordance with county policy, the incumbent of this position is required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, or have an approved medical or religious exception, prior to starting work.
