Job Description and Duties


This is an opportunity to join a dynamic multi-disciplinary team and implement integrated flood and ecosystem management improvements. The incumbent will perform a variety of professional engineering work and project management duties. The incumbent will manage the implementation and financial oversight of flood risk reduction studies and projects for levee and flood control facility planning, evaluations, design, construction, and repair. The incumbent will coordinate with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Central Valley Flood Protection Board (CVFPB), and local flood control agencies responsible for flood risk reduction studies and projects; oversee the management of multiple complex funding agreements; work with other Department of Water Resources divisions to conduct technical reviews of design plans and reports; review and process invoices and reimbursement claims from federal and local sponsors; organize and facilitate project meetings; and conduct public presentations before the CVFPB and in other public venues. The incumbent will use a variety of software tools, including spreadsheets, databases, and project management software. We are seeking candidates that are proactive; have the ability to learn and adapt quickly; exhibit strong organizational, written, and oral communication skills; possess knowledge of flood system performance, hydrology & hydraulics, engineering design, 404 and 408 permitting, environmental compliance documentation, and contract management; and have experience with project management, public speaking, and funding administration.
