Clinical Practicum/Internship with Intermountain Healthcare Employee Assistance Program
The EAP at Intermountain Healthcare provides free, short term, solution focused counseling services to employees and their dependents (spouses, partners and children of employees who are aged between 6 and 26 years of age) of Intermountain Healthcare. We also provide EAP services on a contract basis to approximately 180 other organizations.
We work with children, adults, couples and families.
We focus on brief counseling for life stressors. We also provide support and referrals for those in need of more intensive services or who are in crisis. We do not diagnose. Primary focus of this placement is counseling, however if a student has an interest in other aspects of EAP work, which includes wellness trainings and responding to adverse events, there can be opportunities for exposure to those program components. GPA minimum 3.0.
Eligibility: Internship open to MMFT, MSW, and CMHC students to apply.
Visits: Students can facilitate their meetings with client through 3 different mediums, in person, virtual and telephone. All visits will be done in an office environment and not from the student’s home.
Prerequisites: Students need to have taken course work that will prepare them to work within a brief therapy model or be signed up to take such course(s),examples of this would be Solution Focused Counseling, MI, CBT, ACT and/or Trauma interventions. If the students would like to work with couples in their placement (optional) they need some special training with couples counseling, such as Gottman trainings or Emotion Focused Therapy. Additionally, if the student wants to work with children and/or teens, additional coursework or working with this age group is needed.
Macro and Mezzo opportunities to be arranged with the student depending on their interests.
Stipend is $5000. To be paid in $2500 increments at the end of each semester.
Days/Hours: Preferred hours for practicum are Monday through Wednesday. Hours range from 7am through 7pm depending on the student, supervisor and office schedule. Also, we need the student to cover some hours over the winter break so that our clients don’t go without services for that long
