7th Grade English Language Arts Teacher

Come work at Mount Horeb Area School District! We are currently seeking to hire a highly dedicated 7th Grade English Language Arts Teacher (Limited Term). This limited term position will be available through the 22/23 school year. We invite qualified candidates to apply.

Applications should be submitted by May 31, 2022 for top consideration. First round of interviews will take place virtually June 1st-3rd with anticipated second interviews taking place during the week of June 6, 2022. The position will remain open until filled.

What Your Day Will Look Like:
The majority of your day will involve designing, developing and delivering quality lesson plans and curriculum that adheres to the national and school district specific guidelines in a co-taught classroom. Engaging and innovative daily lesson plans and learning activities are key in maintaining a high quality classroom that gives access to all students and abilities to maximize their learning and potential.

You will also be responsible for accurately evaluating student performance and delivering helpful feedback to students, parents, and other teachers and incorporating appropriate technology and hands-on learning experiences into the classroom with enthusiasm. Using various forms of instruction helps students grow not only academically, but also socially and emotionally. The ideal candidate also believes in collaboration with other colleagues and promotes understanding and communication in a diverse learning and cultural environment. This position will be onsite providing in-person instruction.


Our Ideal Candidate:
Holds, or is eligible to obtain, a current and valid Wisconsin Teaching License in Regular Education or Elementary Education and applicable grade/developmental levels
An understanding of Professional Learning Communities and Standards Based-Grading
Strong background in the “Middle School Philosophy.” and working with middle school students
Has an excellent background in current teaching and learning strategies, specifically co-teaching with special education staff and incorporating innovative strategies to differentiate and scaffold for students with varying skill levels
Develops and implements lessons which reflect district curriculum and which integrate age and developmentally appropriate practices for middle level students
Collaboratively works with teammates, and colleagues with an emphasis on higher­ level thinking, research, and technology integration
Understands, implements, and is able to successfully assess the work of students for evidence of student learning through their intellectual, social, emotional and physical growth
Maintains accurate student progress and behavioral records
Adept at innovative and creative approaches to reaching all students via differentiation. This differentiation includes all students­ regular education, English Language Learners (ELL), advanced learners, and Special Education
Active participation in continuous professional improvement. This includes staff development and other professional growth opportunities provided by the district and as well as those pursued by the individual teacher
Completes additional tasks as requested by administrators
Is a passionate and an engaging educator
Demonstrates ability to build positive, nurturing relationships with all learners, and work with students in a positive and motivational manner
Has the ability to maintain a positive and safe learning environment
Collaborates and has a solution oriented mindset
Has the ability to be flexible and adaptable, especially during times of change
Demonstrates good communication skills, including ability to guide and supervise groups of students, maintain confidentiality and work with students in a positive and motivational manner
Demonstrates proficient office skills with computers and software, including experience enhancing learning with classroom technology and working with chromebooks
The ability to analyze, synthesize and implement data that supports and enhances student academic and affective learning
Able to interact with others effectively, follow directions and initiate activities independently
Demonstrates and supports a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion
Bilingual (Spanish) skills and abilities are a plus
