Boston Municipal Court Summer Intern

At the Trial Court, we believe in Justice with Speed and Dignity. This is a unique and challenging experience for a highly motivated law student to see Justice at Work! Working within the Boston Municipal Court Department, you will take part in providing justice to the citizens of the City of Boston and Suffolk County. Join the Trial Court for an 8-to-10-week paid internship this summer and experience the tremendous work the Trial Courts do every day.

Position Summary:
The intern, under the supervision of the Administrative Office of the Boston Municipal Court Department, will gain practical experience and valuable insight into the judicial process. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to observe in-court events in civil and criminal cases, work with and learn directly from judges, complete legal research and writing assignments, assist Clerk Magistrate offices with case processing, and contribute to departmental policies and procedures within the Administrative Office. 
Because the Administrative Office provides support to eight court divisions located within the City of Boston, the intern may be called upon to travel to the various courts.

  • Satisfactory completion of one year of law school
  • Superior research and writing skills
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and part of a team
